Is there a group discussing webcam?

A webcam is hardware, so if you are using a
particular OS and have a hardware problem, you
might try a hardware group (microsoft.public.windowsxp.hardware).

If you connect to a regular USENET newsserver, there
is alt.comp.periphs.webcam . The traffic level in
there is close to zero, so don't waste your time.

Some of the webcam makers, have a decent private
forum, which is another possibility.

Based on my own experience with a recent purchase,
it'll be a struggle to get help or to be able
to find someone to answer your questions. It took
me a few days to figure it out on my own. (Basically
I couldn't get lip-sync, and by trying the product
in a Linux environment, saw exactly the same symptoms.
That told me it wasn't a driver problem.
By blasting a halogen light on the area the camera
was viewing, the frame rate went up, and audio sync
came back. Which basically says the camera was a
bad purchase, and should be thrown in the garbage.

I expect the only time mine will get used, is for
taking still photos.

Good luck,
Paul

If it's a Microsoft cam public.mshardware.product would be an appropriate
group, if it's not then visit the mfg's support site.
