XP Pro without SP2, dialup. Recently, one website that previously loaded
successfully, now loads its homepage, then snaps me completely off the web
and back onto the desktop. The ISP connection is not affected. This is the
only site behaving in this way. Privacy setting is MEDIUM. Cookies are
MEDIUM. Advanced settings are at DEFAULT. Norton Antivirus; MS firewall
only. Anyone got an idea?
Many thanx.

check

My Comp >> Properties >> Advanced >> Error Reporting

if you have disabled this and a critical error happens in IE, it will
essentially shut the window without any reason. Check the notify if
critical error and see if you get one.

Thanx for the suggestion. "Error Reporting" is enabled, so there's something
else that's fouled up. It all started with a new install of of a new firewall
- now removed since it caused random freezes & other hair-raising events.
Madabout.

Thanx, Carey, I appreciate your taking the time to respond. But I don't
think so: Ad-Aware & Spybot tell me my system's clean. It's likely some
stupid little change I made deep in XP Pro's guts when I installed a new
firewall - since removed cuz it wreaked horrific troubles. Madabout

Since you removed it, has the problem gone away? Which firewall was it?

If it is possible, use System Restore to go back to a time before you
had installed the firewall and see if that fixes things.

Carey: Problem's still with me, & random freezes as well. Firewall was
ZoneAlarm Security Suite, a registered product. Lots of configuration
troubles, and frequent freezes. ZoneLabs CS tried, but couldn't seem to offer
a real solution. Since disabling it, freezes still occur but much less
frequently. Thanx
