Web Services in Access 2007

Considering that Web Services have been touted as the wave of the
future, I was surprised to see that I couldn't find anything in the
help file about using web services in Access 2007. Does anyone know
what improvements Microsoft has made in this area for Office 2007?

You can now build add-in for ms-access in .net code. so, since .net code
uses web services so easily, that is one road that is now opened for
ms-access developers also.

There was a web services tool kit for a2003. (the soap tool kit). I don't
see one yet for a2007

I can't check right now, but I'm fairly sure that I have successfully called
a web service from Access 2007. This PC has both Access 2003 and Access 2007
installed, so I'm not sure yet whether this means that the ability to set a
reference to a web service is built-in to Access 2007 or not. Possibly it
might be using the Office 2003 Web Services Toolkit that is already
installed on this PC. I'll try to find out and post back if I find anything.

Well I've now tested and can confirm that yes, I can definitely set a
reference to a web service in Access 2007, without installing any additional
download. I'm still trying to find out whether the feature is now built-in,
or if Access 2007 is using features provided by the Office 2003 toolkit that
is already installed on this PC.

I don't think it's built in--I think it's using the soap kit from
2003. Can't be sure since I don't have a pure-2007 machine.

I think you're right. The evidence so far certainly seems to be pointing in
that direction.
