Hi All

I might have wrong group here but basically I want to set up my own web
server, so that I can write test and deploy web apps with ease and hopefully
reliability.

I know I need Windows 2003 server so that I can run SQL Server and dot nett
apps, but I am not familiar with setting up or administering a web server,
or even what kind of internet access I would need or where to buy it.

Any advise appreciated

Luke

Luke,

For development purposes, you may install and use the XP Pro web server
(IIS5). If you are planning to expose your web site to the Internet, then
you would need to register with a domain name provider, get a fixed IP
address with enough upload bandwidth and take care of all the network
security issues (firewalls, etc...). I don't want to discourage you, but
it's not going to be easy or cheap.

thanks for that

I think I will choose a managed server from oneandone.co.uk, they seem
really good. My other option would be to get a third party company in to
build and set up my web server, with a support contract.

Cheers

Luke
