When I open IE and my home page loads... upon completion of loading I am unable to close the window. If I go to any other web page it will load and upon completion I try to close the window but I am unable to close the window. I have checked for viruses and none are present and I have a firewall up and running. I have even restored back to a week earlier and this worked fine for about 5 mins then I was unable to close any web page window. I have had this problem before but didn't seek help and I just reloaded windows. I have windows XP Pro. Does anybody have any clues on how I might fix this problem

Peter,
This is probably being caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware,
parasite)

Work through the solutions (CWShredder, Ad-aware, Spybot) at

If not caused by malware, consider disabling (for diagnostic purposes)
legitimate programs running in the background which might be interacting
with IE- security, antivirus, ad-blockers, toolbars & other add-ons, etc.
You may have to uninstall then reinstall, or not reinstall, a program.
