Is it just your browser or your desktop and other applications as
well?? If so, right click your desktop and select 'Properties' and
then select the 'Settings' tab.
Move the slider in the 'Screen resolution' box to a higher resolution
and see iffn that don't look better. If not what you want, move it
back or move farther to the right, depending on your goal. OK your way
out for the changes to take effect.

If you run the FireFox browser, you can display the browser window size in
the toolbar by going through the Tools menu: Tools -> Web Developer ->
Resize -> Display Window Size in Title. As you grab a corner of the browser
window and change its height or width, you can immediately see its new
dimensions in the title bar. When I navigate Firefox to msdn.microsoft.com
on a computer with a wide screen, I can then see that this web page requires
a window width of at least 1295 pixels to get rid of the horizontal scroll
bar. On my laptop whose native screen size is 1024 by 768, there is no way
to ever eliminate the horizontal scrolling requirement to see the entire
page width. Its just a matter of style used by the web site.
Paul gave an excellent description of why you might be experiencing this
issue. Patrick stated how to do it in IE.
In Firefox you can hold down Ctrl and press - to reduce the page size to
where you want it (repeatedly if you want). In the same way, holding
down Ctrl and pressing + will increase it again. Unless the web page
designers fixed the font sizes, it should work most of the time.
