Web Home Page - Save As

I have been frustrated by Google indexing and notice all my page links back
to home have "index" after the regular domain.

My URL (Domain) is http://www.glasscottage.net but it's pointing to
http://www.glasscottage.net/index.htm.

When you save is Frontpage (2000) forcing the "index" into the saved
portion. The file name is "index", should I change this and then change all
my page links back to home page accordingly.

Not sure if this isn't affecting Google, it's not a problem indexing Yahoo
or MSM.

Thanks, Don

It isn't affecting Google. Chances are, the fact that you have nothing but
lists on the home page is what is affecting Google. Search bots are like
really really dumb, blind people. They like plain english words describing
what is there.

The "index.htm" file is the "default" file the server you are hosted on
sends when someone requests no file.

So when your domain is used with out it, that is what you get.

If you mess with the home page name, you are likely to cause severe damage
or destroy your navigation structure, so stop it. Let frontpage tell you
what that file should be, and let frontpage manage the links.

BTW, that "Miss America" dish made me do a double take thinking "Why did
this guy put a condom on a site about glassware?" Maybe a different picture
at an angle might avoid that impression. :)

YIKES!

I haven't touched the file names. At one time Google had 200 pages listed,
I'm down to 30 something and those URL's are all dead, don't exist. So Google
is virtually not indexing anything.

In fact, Google was indexing everything off the frontpage, telling me it
like the links, that what a commercial site should do, move people to
products or information.

As far as the plate, must be a Freudian slip on you're part, it's certainly
not the picture. Hmmmmmmmmm!
