We use Outline Numbering circa XP2003. Where is it in Office (Word) 2007? All
I see is
1., 2., 3., a., b, c., etc.

It is called multi-level list and is the third icon in the paragraph group
on the home tab of the ribbon.
Outline view is most easily accessed from the icon on the right of the Word
status bar.
