Got it on my wifes XP home (running on a 64-bit athlon, yet) upstairs, with
one error message from update within Windows Defender, but in the end, no
additional effort needed on my part--did updates via AU, rebooted, checked
the program, and it was in.

Now for my system:

Today's security updates are long since in and rebooted, so I'm gonna do an
express scan at Microsoft Update.
Ok - one update offered--Windows Defender defs.
Microsoft update declares success!

Open Windows Defender, and home page shows 1.14.1452.3 created 5/8.2006 at
1:27 PM, so I guess the Update process didn't lie!

Great--this machine had trouble with the last two updates in a row.
