WD from non admin account

There's an option for this - it says it will allow scanning and to "choose
actions to apply to potentially unwanted software' - yet this latter feature
is disabled in my limited user account. Other than scanning and an isolated
alert once in a blue moon, I just don't see where the "beef" is with this
program. I've read throughout the forum that some accuse WD of preventing
one thing or another from running. Boy, I wouldn't mind seeing that I
suppose. It would at least let me know that WD is actually doing something.
But WD has never ever prevented anything from running on my computer and
since I operate from a limited user account, I can't even respond to WD's
alerts.

WD runs fine in admins account but i have not seen it allow anyone to use it
properly in the limited account and I have talked about it in here several
times and brought it to Microsofts attention but nothing has been done about
it for the limited account

I guess you mustn`t do much with your comp (by way of installing progs,
drivers etc), if you don`t see any tags from WD in the system area of your
task bar. So, I guess you must be doing the right things. As for the option
you describe Tools>Options>Administrator Options ......... You won`t have
that option available with a Limited User account. You will however, have it
available from an Administrator Account. Are you operating a Limited Account
for security reasons or otherwise?

Thank you STU and ROBINB! I feel better that the behavior in limited user
account has been replicated. I suppose if I spent more time here, I wouldn't
have had to bother you with the question. I suppose MS intended to allow
certain features to work from limited user account but never got around to
changing the code. So far it's not that big of deal. As you suggested STU,
I do live somewhat a sheltered existence on-line. Additionally, I have other
utilities to assure me I'm staying clean.
I will say this about WD. It's quiet, unassuming and light on resources, so
I let it say around. It's cute.

Not a problem! I hope our explanations have gone some way to reassure you.
Anything associated with the attempted invasion of our comps is not very nice
(to say the least) and WD when installed, has been designed not only to limit
that invasion but prevent those who network/share computers altering others
individual settings - so to speak. Thus we have Admin and Limited acounts. In
theory, on a home network, those sharing the same computer can all have
Admin accounts which we can `password` protect when we `log on`. Just make
sure you use a good password consisting of at least eight `alpha numeric`
characters if that is your scenario. Unless, of course, you trust the other
members of your family not to `screw up` your application settings. Having
said that, there are those of us, with the best will in the world, who don`t
want anyone messing with our stuff... myself included ;)
