WD fails to remove WinTools

I installed Windows Defender onto our School Library's PCs today and even
with AdAware and Symantec Antivirus, it found several problems including
WinTools (Severe Threat) on 3 of them. But it failed on its attempt to rid
the machines of it. It told me to try again, which I did several times, I
rebooted and tried; ran it in safe mode and tried. Any ideas?
