Could you please send this to all students – I’m sure it’s for a cause close to many peoples hearts and (Backed by IBM and a University) will help find cures for Cancer and Aids.



It’s a perfectly safe program, will not harm computers, or affect speed, as you can run it just as a screensaver. It returns results to the server via the internet every so often and you don’t need to do anything to it other than leave it be.

I agree - I wouldn't advise installing this. It may not be dangerous, but if it were to be installed and then cause a problem, IT Services will be left to clear it up. Emailing students will only encourage them to try and install the software on campus.

I advised Chris some time ago that this is not suitable for the college environment and will not / should not be installed. I'm a little disappointed that it has been raised once more.

Sorry, I think you mis-understood me...

I meant to enlighten people about the program so that they would do it at home, by no means here as I understand this is against policy, and wouldn’t want to cause any problems...

I do not believe that any wording could ensure that students who read the email on campus will not be tempted to try downloading and installing the application - at which point it may become an issue that will cost my team (and the college) time and money to correct any potential issues that may subsequently arise.
