Are there any crunchers here using o2/be broadband? And if so, can you access worldcommunitygrid.org?

I've sent in a support e-mail to o2 about this, but I thought I should double check here to narrow things down :)

I cant' seem to access the WCG site, even if I use the IP address in my hosts file : 129.33.89.133. That seems doubly odd to me.

Pinging it by IP seems fine, and the tracert looks as follows:

C:\>tracert 129.33.89.133

Weird - I can get to WCG no problem , so I guess it must be something at your ISP end

I take it it has nothing to do with your firewall?

Nope, disabled it on my router and on the PC to test it out. Also tried from Beckys PC on the same network to see if it was a problem with just my PC.

This problem has really flummoxed me!

Thanks WF, it must be something with their end I guess then. I know there have been some DNS problems in the past - but this seems really odd.

Will see what they say to my e-mail and post back here :)

Okay, i got given new DNS numbers the other day, and was actually on the phone this morning, as i am on the upto 24meg package, normally get about 13, but was only getting 8.4 for last few days.

Gave em a phone and he said he was gonna send my signal across a different route as i am inbetween exchanges.

Line lenght to one exchange 2.4Km but goes through 2 switches andf the other is 2.6km through one switch.

Am now getting a steady 16Meg, but have issues with some sites, probably a coincedence......

What can you not get Bebroadband in London???

I want the faster speeds as i have lots of friends in the USA (from me army days) and i have found that when playing them online on COD4 or whatever then if i have a speed under 8 then i am lagging in the games and its not very enjoyable.

So i was on the upto 8 package but was getting 6 and so was lagging, i then upgraded to the 24meg package and BT did some upgrades in the area on the lines and exchanges so now i have more and can play properly.

Maybe you should move?

I have a spare room you can stay in if you don't mind sleeping on top of a desk or under a weights bench?

Sounds like feckit is like me in that his exchange is not LLU enabled and therefore stuck with normal BT wholesale ADSL.

I would love for my exchange to be able to allow all these super fast ISP's put their own equipment in - but I don't do so bad I guess, as the various phoneline checking sites say I can get up to 3mb, and I actually get around 4.5 according to my router, and around 3.7 according to testing sites like speedtest :thumb:
