I recently wrote an article about PC World and how it trains its sales advisers to persuade customers to buy more than they originally intended to. The article is designed to give customers an insight into the whole sales and purchasing procedure, and what to look out for.

The article can be viewed here. Please discuss.

Ok, let's get things straight here.

The article is well written and informative but contains little I personally didn't already know. And that probably goes for most regular Forum members here.

However, Spruzz, aka Simon Bell, has his own company:

Simon created his own online company; Spruzz Ltd in January 2006, specialising in internet related services. His company's portfolio includes: web design, web development, program development, technical support and online retail.

It's a very young company and no doubt our Simon is trying to think of ways to promote his business.

If an individual goes to read the article from the above link and decides to look around, they will come across the promotion for his company.

Using Forums for free advertising is not on.

I'm a moderator here and I don't even have a link to my company's website in my signature, although I could do if I wanted to.

I just don't think it's on, to be honest.

So, I'm between a rock and a hard place. I like the article but I don't like the spamming aspect.

What I'll do is leave the decision to Mucks as to whether or not to delete this thread, cos he's a very fair person indeed

Articles are not spam as such, but the way in which it was produced here may well be construed as so.

I see a very young person with a lot to learn.

Don't give up the day job Simon. ;)

But, dude, that's what sales is all about - you wouldn't be a very good salesman if you weren't looking to sell stuff, would you? You'd just be a checkout operator

Not a badly written article though... good for people who really, really don't know any better.

Its the same everywhere even in Subway they want you to buy extra meat and cheese, or meal deals lol :D

I used to work for comet, and we didnt try and make people buy extra stuff, we jsut showed them what there is on offer that they may need at some point (USB sticks, Comet Help Service, Webcams and so on)
