Warcraft 3 freezes

Hi all,

Could anyone pls provide some help. I am having
intermittent freezes while playing Warcraft 3, always at
different points in the game. The initial problem
seemed to be Zone Alarm and its True Vector Service, so I
have replaced that with another program. Now I am
getting the following details (from the administrative
tools section of XP Control Panel) after the program
freezes. Trouble is I don't know how to access to
program that is causing the problems or how to find out
how to replace the driver. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Details
Product: Windows Operating System
ID: 26
Source: Application Popup
Version: 5.2
Symbolic Name: STATUS_LOG_HARD_ERROR
Message: Application popup: %1 : %2

Explanation
The program could not load a driver because the program
user doesn't have sufficient privileges to access the
driver or because the drive is missing or corrupt.

User Action
To correct this problem:

Ensure that the program user has sufficient privileges to
access the directory in which the driver is installed.
Reinstall the program to restore the driver to the
correct location.
If these solutions do not work, contact Product Support
Services.

Version: 5.0
Symbolic Name: status_log_hard_error
Message: Unable to Load Device Driver : device driver
could not be loaded.

Explanation
The program could not load a driver because the program
user doesn't have sufficient privileges to access the
driver or because the drive is missing or corrupt.

User Action
To correct this problem:

correct location.

have u tried reinstalling the programs and drivers? If
that doens't work, have you contacted Product Support
Services? I suggest taking this to Blizzard, they have
very good support.

Hi and thanks for the tip, but I think the program it
refers to is Windows XP isn't it, not Warcraft? The
details section mentions Windows Operating System as the
program, hence my request where this
STATUS_LOG_HARD_ERROR resides?

The error is from Messenger running in the background. Try killing that off
and then play Warcraft 3.

Hi Chris,

I've checked the Windows components under the "add or
remove programs" part of Control Panel and Windows
Messenger has not been installed, although MSN Messenger
does appear in the Program Files directory on my C
drive. Should I delete the entire MSN Messenger
directory to kill off the program (it doesn't appear in
the "add/Remove programs" part of Control Panel)?

Many thanks for your help.

No, just go into Messenger, select Tools/Options and go to the Preferences
tab where you can remove the check mark from the box to run Messenger when
Windows starts. You can also go to Start/Run and type in "msconfig" without
the quotes and go to the Startup tab and remove it. Restart Windows, and
then try the game again.
