That should have been cam commander, but I just realised it does
captures not recordings.

Sorry if I wasted your time. I'm recovering from a migraine and not
fully thinking straight yet.

then maybe you can use the "Windows Movie Maker" program

Of course XP Pro has got Movie Maker !.
Look in your Program Files folder.

I also use XP Pro
and I have Windows Movie Maker on my setup.
