Wanted: freeware address book that understands we're not all in the USA

I'm looking for an address book that will also allow me to include
important dates like birthdays and remind me of such, but my biggest
requirement is that it allow addresses, phone numbers and dates in
non-US formats.

As an example, an otherwise interesting program I tried recently only
allowed US states in the address, phone numbers had to be in US format,
and it claimed there were 289 days until Christmas (probably because the
system date my computer returns for today is 04-10-03).

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I use " AddressBook " from --- http://blaizfree.net/ it doesn't
remind though but is great ........... to remind I use " Birthday
Reminder " ---- http://www.cweiske.de/birthday.htm --- reminds you at
start up ....
