On reboot of a Windows 2000 server it BSOD'd with UNMOUNTABLE BOOTABLE
DEVICE, and rebuild had to be performed. Restore did not work.
Have backup of the dead-server on tape. And would like to restore the
Event Logs for investigation on another machine/PC.

Is viewing the restored files possible.? Or will I get some corruption
message?

Or is there other files I can use to investigate historical system
activity before reboot.

Thanks

Start the Evnt Viewer, then click Action / Open Log File. Look
for files with a .evt extension on your backup medium.
