Have a typical home net, DSL modem and wireless router.
1. On the XP PC i selected the C drive and marked it for sharing access for
"Everybody" and "Full Control".
2. On the Vista PC, i selected the C drive, went to advanced sharing, and
marked its C drive as shared and full control for everybody.
But, in neither case can i see the other computer's files over the network.
On the Vista computer, in the Explorer, i do see that XP PC listed, but the
only thing that appears is "Printers". How can i get the Vista computer to
also see the C Drive of the XP PC?
On the XP PC, in the Explorer, i do see the Vista PC, but when i select it
in the Explorer (left pane), in the right pane, where i would expect the
contents of the selected item to appear, it is blank (no error, just blank,
no objects such as the C drive appear).
So, Question is, what do i have to do, on each of these PCs, to be able to
fully view and modify files on the C drive of the other PC. This must be a
common problem. Is there a good, comprehensive, step by step cookbook that
tells me what to do on each PC to make this work?
Thanks,
tom
