Using a third-party FTP program to upload FrontPage webs will break
components using FrontPage server extensions.

I have eventually managed to upload my test web. The
method of publication has become blurred as I was having
so much trouble. I am using FP2000.

Used CuteFTp and transferred a test page into htdocs, it
did not seem to publish.

Downloaded new version of Cute FTP and transferred my
real test page (different to first) and then went back
into frontpage and published. It is sitting on www but
when I try to publish changed pages i get a message
referring to the first test page saying that spaces in
names are not recognised.I then have to republish the full
site each time - it works but I dont understand where the
glich is that keeps referring back to the first test.

I did try to publish the second test from frontpage direct
before using Cute FTP but it did not work.

If possible I would like to unpublish everything and start
again, this time knowing what I am doing. My isp is
useless when i ask questions cos they are too basic.

Thanks

if you want to "publish" with frontpage, contact your host
and get the FP extensions re installed, open the local site
in FP and using the file : publish command follow the
prompts to "publishy" your site.

Publish is quite differemt to FTP, FTP can corrupt the FP
extensions and render those FP features that need the
extensions to work become inoperabple eg counter,, sitemap
etc
