I went to the control panel/add-remove and clicked IE6
SP1, repair (the only option, the other 2 choices were
greyed out), and it won't let me- I get an error message
stating, "IE6 could not be repaired. Please run setup
again to reinstall all components."

I am running XP pro. What should/can I do?

Cheryl,

Normally XP users don't see that option. The only way that I am aware of
that you might be seeing it is if you installed IE6sp1 without XPsp1.
Otherwise I would suspect that you have an incompatible mix of modules
somehow. The key module is setupwbv.dll. Tell us the version details
from its Properties display (version, size, date modified).

Did you get your XP by upgrading from another OS?
Even after installing XPsp1 that option disappeared but I was still able
to use the setupwbv.dll that IE6sp1 installed by Run...

rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance

BTW IE Repair creates a log file called Fix IE Log.txt which might
give you more clues about what exactly may be wrong.
