DELETE XP AND REPROGRAM WIN 98??

Yes. If you have a Windows 98 startup disk put this into the floppy drive
and boot your machine. When you get to the Dos 'A' prompt type format c:
A message will appear telling you that if you continue all the data on your
drive/partition will be destroyed. You have to answer Yes to this in order
for the format to continue. Your hard drive will now be reformatted and xp
will no longer exist. After formatting just reinstall your copy of Windows
98. Just remember that if windows 98 was an upgrade from say win 95 you will
need to install win 95 first and then use your upgrade cd to upgrade to 98.
If 98 isn't an upgrade then you can install it without any problem.

If you did an upgrade then it is possible to just go back to your old operating system. I'm sorry but I do not have the information on how to do this at hand but I will post it later if I think of it. Otherwise, you will either have to reformat or use a system restore disk that should have come with you PC.

If you upgraded from Win98 (or WinME) you should be able to remove WinXP
from Control Panel |Add/Remove Programs.

This will not work if you formatted your drive to NTFS.
Also, the reversion becomes less satisfactory the longer you use XP, as
programs get installed/upgraded/updated etc.

That will not work if the XP is on an NTFS partition, which the DOS of
the Win98 floppy does not handle. You have to use the FDSIK program
from that boot instead, use it to 'Delete non-DOS partition', make a new
DOS Primary one, and reboot to Format that. Or use some other Operating
system to make the sort of partition it uses

Greetings --

First of all, please unstick your CapsLock key. Posting in all
caps, as you have done, is the Usenet equivalent of shouting, and is
considered very rude. More importantly, posting in all caps makes the
post very hard to read, further reducing your chances of getting help.

The normal way to "uninstall" _any_ operating system is to format
the hard drive and install a new OS of your choice.

However, if you performed an upgrade from Win98/Me, elected to
backup the old system files, and didn't convert the partition to NTFS,
then all you need do is boot into Safe Mode and Start > Control Panel
Add/Remove Programs. All of these conditions _must_ be met for the
uninstall option to be available.
