I need to create a new Windows 2000 Server and would like to do so by cloning an existing system. However, I need to use the new install CD key to keep the licensing legal. How can I substitute the new install CD key into a cloned system?

It doesn't matter for Win2K. As long as you've purchased a legal
key, just post it on the machine and use it if/when you ever reinstall.

Use Symantec Ghost in conjunction with the MS Utility SYSPREP.EXE.

You setup a system completely. Configure *every* detail you can think of or need. You then
run the Sysprep utility. You would then use Ghost to create an image of that platform,.
You would the use Ghost to restore the image to another platform of the same model. When
rebooted, the OS will run a mini-wizard that will ask for a new CD key, IP address, Admin.
password, etc. Note you can ONLY clone like systems.

You can get Symantec Ghost manuals from the following URL:
ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/products/ghost/manuals/
