Want to avoid having messages automatically open in newsgroups

When I used Outlook Express, I had to click on a message before it would
show in the viewing pane. That is my preference. However, now that I have
a new computer with Vista and am using Windows Mail, a message automatically
opens as soon as I move to a different newsgroup. Is there a setting/option
I can use to avoid having messages automatically open?

Thanks,
MaryL

This is also one of my pet peeves.
Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any way to avoid it.

Thanks. I notice you are an MS-MVP. Is there any way to send a suggestion
to MS to include this in an update? It's very poor practice to
automatically open a page without the user's consent.

Thanks. I just sent feedback from the link you supplied, but I expect (as
you suggested) that it may have no effect.

I'm not at all familiar with Windows Live Mail. In fact, I just got a new
computer with Vista a couple of days ago, and Windows Mail is "new" to me!
I'll have to check into Windows Live Mail. Many people complained about
Outlook Express as a newsreader, but it actually worked well for me.
Windows Mail seems similar, but I do think the problem of messages opening
automatically is a very *real* problem (especially for binaries and some of
the trash that trolls will sometimes dump into otherwise ordinary NGs).

You're welcome.
