Wallpaper problems

D

Dan

I have used Netscape to download some images... but they
were not showing up in My Pictures. Recently I noticed
many of the images I wanted to save to My Pictures showing
up in the Wallpaper list in the Control Panel. However,
they were not in the same file as the Windows Wallpapers.
In fact I can not find the images anywhere.

So my question is two-fold. 1)How do I get rid of the
wallpapers I don't want, and 2)how do I ensure that my
pictures get saved to the appropriate file.

Thank you, Dan

Hi Dan,

Right after you right click on an image to save it you're presented with
a window asking where you want to save it. Take note of the path there,
it's probably where your last/lost downloads have went. To start
downloading back to where you used to save them, do a little clicking in
the save to window and get to the proper folder.

First you cannot get rid of the wallpapers you don't want. If the images are in My Pictures they are available as Wallpaper. I have spent 6 years trying to stop this. Ai'nt gonna happen.

If the images are not in My Pictures the other place to look is:
C:\WINNT

Something related:
On our XP Home machine, with one user I can select JPG's and
BMP's as Wallpaper, another user on that same machine can only
select BMP's as Wallpaper. Even when browsing to and selecting
JPG as Wallpaper, it simply refuses to accept these.
Not very important, just curious were that difference comes
from.

When a jpg is chosen as the Wallpaper the setting when you right-click the Desktop should show Active Desktop | Show Web content. Iyt should do this automatically. Thus if you have done that and you don't want it anymore all you have to do is deselect Active Desktop | Show Web content.

The better way is to right-click the desktop | Properties | and set Wallpaper to (none). But I suspect the user you were talking about their Show Web Content is not automatically selecting when they choose a jpg as a Wallpaper.

Heyyyy...finally I got it.
Remind: I'm talking about Windows XP.
XP has no direct "Web content" selection in the Desktop
properties.
There is a Web Tab under Desktop>Properties>Desktop>Change
Desktop
The Web Tab was not there though, this seemed to be disabled via
TweakUI (allow Web Content to be added).
Thanks for pointing me the right direction.
