WAB conversion to .Contact

..Contacts seems to be a subset of what was stored in WAB, which makes
importing WAB to .Contacts problematic. In WAB I have 'Business Fax' numbers
stored and there is no corresponding entry in .Contacts. .Contacts has a
'Home Fax' number, but not a 'Business Fax' number, which in itself doesn't
make much sense. It is far more likely that a fax would be sent to a
business, so if there is going to be only one fax number it should be a biz
#. Anyway, the import of WAB to .Contact blows away all my biz fax #'s. Is
..Contacts extendable at the user level so a 'biz fax #' can be added?

Thanks.

This is a little work. On the old machine:
To export a group go to Start | Run and type
wab /new
and save it, giving it the name of the group, keeping the WAB extension.
Now open your group, select one contact and press Ctrl-A to Select All then
Ctrl-C to Copy All.
Go to the new address book, click in the contact area and press Ctrl-V to
Paste All.

Thanks for taking the time to respond Frank, but I think we've got a
disconnect on the problem. Ahhh wait...unless you saying that cutting and
pasting the info will cause Windows Live to magically sprout the new
field.......let me try what you say and get back....

OK...Frank, I went through the steps and,unless I misunderstand, you've
described how to clone a WAB. I'm not trying to go from one WAB to another
WAB. I'm trying to go from a WAB to the contacts used in Windows Live Mail
(the local email client) that uses separate .Contact files to store the
individual contacts. The problem is that the source (WAB) has a 'business
fax' field, but the destination (.Contacts) does not have a 'business fax'
field. So in upgrading to the latest and greatest I'm losing information.
Check out WAB and you'll see that you can store a biz fax #. Now check out
the fields for a contact in the contact app that you can launch from windows
live mail and you'll see the disparity.

Thanks,
