W98 on C: replacing NT on D: with XP

I change the bios boot order to switch bootup between W98 on drive 1 and NT
on drive 2. This works really well.

To install XP on drive 2. I have deleted all my data on the NT disk (has
small NTFS boot and swap partions, and a larger FAT32 partion)

How should I install XP to avoid wiping out W98??? ( I was going to just
unplug drive 1, format drive 2 and install XP from CD to FAT32)

It would be nice if XP could see drive 2 as C: when it booted up (this means
setting a logical partion doesn't it?)

The IDE setup is:

W98 is on Primary Master
NT is on Sec Master
CD/DVD is on Sec Slave

Thanks if you can help, - Graham

Hi Graham,

For the way you are doing this, you should do just as you thought: Remove
drive 1, then install to drive 2. WinXP's installer will use "C" as long as
there is nothing there to supercede it (if you have a zip drive, disconnect
it as well).
