W2k SP4 won't shut down

I have just installed Win2000 SP4 and now the shut down
process hangs at the "fuzzy screen" point and I have to
switch the power off. My boss says that he has seen an
article stating that this is "a known problem" and there
is a fix. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
