W2K Password

I just wondered, because of all the "lost password" posts here if the
following would work.

Install second instance of Win2K and copy the SAM file from the 'repair'
folder on the new installation to the 'system32/config' folder on the
original. Would the original then have the password/s as set for the new
installation?

Possibly. I have heard reports of that happening but have never tried it
myself. Just plain renaming the sam and rebooting the computer will leave
the built in administrator account password as null. It is just much easier
to use a reset boot cdrom from link below. --- Steve
