W2K Incoming Connection Closed

I have a W2K Server standard edition providing basic workgroup file & print
functions. I have configured an incoming connection and connect over the
internet from an Win XP client using VPN. The route through the firewall is
working and on the 1st occassion I am successfully connected to the server.
However once I disconnect I cannot re-connect until I reboot the server and
this is far from ideal. I have reviewed the Server Docs on the MS Web site
without sucess. Anyone any ideas as to why?

Are there any errors in the event log on the server or the xp workstation?
Any errors on the client while trying to connect?
