Recognises all CD/DVD drives, but when disk inserted, will
not read. Repeatedly says "No Disk in Drive 'X', insert CD
and retry"
I can't even upgeade to XP.
2.8 P4, 386Mb, 60Gb hd, DVD RW, CD RW,

1. Make sure the CD itself is good.
2. Make sure all device drivers are the latest W2k-specific.

If no joy, post addl info in this thread (to maintain history).
- Is this a new W2k install/upgrade?
- Did the devices work earlier with W2k?
- Any recent changes AT ALL to the hardware/software?
- Any clues in Event Viewer/sys logs/Device Manager?
- Etc.

Been there, tried the diet.
Been like that since install of OS from floppies/CD
Have found, will only work if disk left in from previous
session i.e. at boot up. Then works fine, incl write or rw.
