Vuescan Red Cast from Scan on FS4000

I have been experiencing a pronounced red cast from scans on the FS4000
using Vuescan versions 8.2.07 through 8.2.09 - I have not had the
opportunity to try 8.2.11.

Using a 1000 dpi preview, I adjust the color settings to achieve a good
color balance. When scanned at 4000 dpi (all settings remain the
same), the final scan has a strong reddish cast. Although this cast
can be removed later in Photoshop, it makes the effort to get the color
correct in Vuescan's preview stage somewhat meaningless.

Has anyone been experiencing a similar problem? I'm running Windows XP
(Service Pack 2)and am using a calibrated Dell 17-inch LCD monitor.

Have you created a profile for the scanner?

Jim -

I have not created a profile for the scanner, but in the past (I've
been using Vuescan for over 2 years), I never had the need. The color
balance of the scanned image (when viewed in Vuescan) had been
identical to the color balance set in the Preview image. Now, there's
a reddish tinge (medium peach, perhaps?)in the scanned image. It is
quite obvious when switching back & forth between the Preview & Scan
tabs in Vuescan.

The color cast is easily corrected in Photoshop via the iCorrect
EditLab v4.5 or Color Washer plug-ins. I'd just rather have the
original scan be as close to the proper color cast as possible before
editing in Photoshop.

I just did a test with VueSCan 8.2.09 and my FS4000US.
No problem at all. I used a slide, on Inputtab Media=Image,
on Colortab: White balance and Scanner Color Space buildin.
Try to do a calibration. Scanner | Calibrate.
