Hi

The data on the Vuescan site says that the LiDE80 is supported as long as
the LiDE80 Canon ScanGear Software is installed.

When I use Vuescan there seems to be no interaction with the Scangear
software, is that the right thing or am I doing something wrong

thanks

Possilby Vuescan needs the Twain driver that the Canon software installs.

But there seems to be no evidence that it uses it??
IE The ScanGear sofware does not open when I use Vuescan.
Any ideas on this?

The driver is a separate entity. It might not be necessary for the ScanGear
software to start.

Wanting to know that seems pointless to me. Why would you want to know
that?

As you say, it might not be necessary, but it may be necessary and isn't.

For Canon digital cameras the software installs DLLs that some other
programs use to convert CRW/CR2; there might be more features
third-party software needs Canon's DLLs (or other Canon SDK
components).

Since I am not Mr Hamrick I can't answer your question with 100%
certainty but I am willing to bet that VS also just needs some Canon
DLL or SDK components.

You are 100% right, I emailed Mr. Hamrick, and in his usual helpful fashion,
he replied promptly and let me know what was required.

thanks
