VS2008 C++ Won't save x64 include/lib/... paths

No problem building win32. In x64, the entries for
"project and solutions"/"VC++ Directories"/Platform x64/.... for include
files and library files are editable, but not persistent. After restarting
the IDE the updates are gone. For that matter, so are the default entries.

Any ideas?

Should have added, this on a Vista 64 OS. I tried updating the paths while
running VS as admin, but this didn't help.

Did you remember to run Visual Studio as administrator? (Right-click over
the icon, "Run as Administrator")
