VS2005 Upgrade Question

I bought VS2003 in 2003 of course

Now I want to upgrade but I was wondering when you install an upgrade if it

A.) Requires that VS2003 be already installed

B.) Overwrites it or allows side by side operation.

No. They work completely independently of one another.

B.) Overwrites it or allows side by side operation.

Side by side operation works perfectly.

In the meantime, I asked microsoft and they told me that if you want side by
side operation you need to but the full product.

Ah, you just made me realise that I mis-read your question. Sorry, my
answers do indeed apply to installing the full product alongside the
existing VS2003 installation.

I wasn't aware that there was an upgrade product from VS2003 to VS2005, so
my answers are quite possibly wrong.

Ah, you just made me realise that I mis-read your question. Sorry, my

Not sure if this works but might try the upgrade to VS2005 then re-install
VS2003.
