VS.NET 2005 Beta and VS.NET 2003 on the same computer???

Lars Netzel

I have gotten the VS.NET 2005 Beta version in the MSDN package... It seems
like FrameWork 2.0 is also required for that...

Is there any problems installning this on the same system as a VS.NET 2003?

Best Regards

Install Virtual PC. You will then install another instance of an
OS as a 'guest' which will allow you to run beta software without
risk of destroying or otherwise compromising your production
environment.

I haven't had problems with VS2005 beta and VS2003 on my machine as such.
However, I've heard some people having problems (in this newsgroup itself
sometime ago). Since VS2005 is still in beta1, you should definitely not
have it along with VS2003 on a production machine. You could put both of
them together on a development machine. Most likely it'll work fine (atleast
for windows development - I'm not too sure about web development) but if
you're out of luck, it could cause problems.

they work side by side, but with anything that is beta, be careful you never
know what bug may be lurking around.

On my WXP SP2 machine;
1) Sql Server 2000 Developer Ed (named instance)
2) Sql Server 2005 Beta (default instance)
3) Visual Studio 6
4) Visual Studio 2003
5) Visual Studio 2005 Beta

I have had not a single problem yet. Also, those are listed in the order in
which I installed them.
