I have a solution with 5 projects ( 4 dll + main).
When I build it, the log comes up showing a successful build, but the cursor
is a thick arrow. When I click on the editor page, the hourglass cursor
comes on and stays on for about a minute or so.

Is this a known phoenomenon ?

It can be slow, but if you have the latest Service Packs it should improve
somewhat.

I should probably mention that, although mine is basically a fresh install,
I do have lots of alpha software installed on it like Orcas and F#.

I may have fixed the problem. I used to VC# Express installed and I don't
think it uninstalled properly. In Code Snippets manager, I noticed that
there were some pointers to Snippets that belonged to the old installation.
I uninstalled power tools, deleted this directory and then reinstalled power
tools.

Seems better, but my formatting (on one solution ) is still awry.

Aha! I have the same tools installed. I'll try uninstalling and give it a
go...
