VS Filter

I got a new flat screen monitor, hooked it up and did all the settings. It
works beautifully. Problem is, I get this warning note whenever I turn it on
: VS Filter
Wrong file version

I googled VS Filter and it sent me to a download page from SourceForge. It
does not explain it's function. If I click ok on the warning it goes away.
Any help is appreciated.

Are we to assume that you did or did not install some software that
came with the LCD monitor? Or guess at which brand and model of
monitor you now have? Or that a search at the vendor's web site
yielded no help, FAQ, support, forums, or download software from
there?

Also, there is no vsfilter.dll file on my host, and if that is causing
the problem then you have to figure out what installed that file.
vsfilter is a dll used by DirectVobSub, a DirectShow filter to display
subtitles. You could try going to
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/DirectVobSub.htm. Because I don't
find vsfilter mentioned at Microsoft, again, presumably it was part of
some software you installed that came with the monitor.

Not all software included with hardware is good software. MagicTune
comes with the Samsung monitor. It loads okay. It runs okay. But on
many hosts it will not unload. If you attempt to shutdown their NT
service, it goes unresponsive, hangs, and the processes remain loaded
(there are 2 of them). So when you shutdown Windows, you might see a
"dwwin" error message along with a super-long hang during the shutdown
process, if it finishes at all. Since nothing in their MagicTune
software isn't available via the monitor's menus, the software is
superfluous. Since you never mentioned WHICH brand and model of
monitor that you got, no one experienced with that monitor can help
because no one knows what you have.

In my haste to get up and running, I neglected to install a driver. Problem
solved. Thanks for your suggestions!
