VPN & XP: Error 733

[HektykVybz]

I'm trying to create a vpn connection between 2 XP pro
pc's. I would like to do this in order to have secure FTP
and VNC between both pc's. I created the VPN Connections
but keep getting Error 733. What am I doing (or not
doing?)

Thnaks for the reply. I already looked at the site you
suggested, and now I keep getting Error 800!

I'm definitely not doing something right or at all.

The two computers are mine and a friends. She often
phones me for help so I thought a connection to her pc
would save all the tO 'ing and fro 'ing. The connection
will only allow a connection from my pc to her pc.

I know I need a VPN Server and a client but would
appreciate help in setting these up correctly
Both pc's have Sygate Personal Firewall Pro installed

If your trying to setup a PPTP VPN link between the PCs you need to forward TCP Port 1723 and enable
GRE Protocol 47 traffic through the firewall. Personally I have no idea if you can do either using
SyGate Personal Firewall. I suggest you look at the SyGate support pages for help with that.

So with that said, it might be easier to either use Remote Assistance, where your friend can watch
you access/control her desktop to fix problems, or Remote Desktop, where you access/control her
desktop and fix problems while she is locked out of the process.

Q. What are the differences between Remote Desktop and Remote Assistance?
A. Remote Desktop and Remote Assistance use the same underlying technology, but there are
differences between these features.

a.. Remote Desktop allows access to a remote Windows computer. For example, when you are at another
computer you can use Remote Desktop to connect to your work computer from home and have access to
files and applications.
b.. Remote Assistance allows a helper to use an Internet connection to access your computer to
provide assistance. The helper views your computer's screen and communicates through a chat box. The

Again, I am not sure how SyGate Personal Firewall would work in this case. It would need to be
configured for UPnP and/or forward TCP Port 3389 (used by both Remote Assistance and Remote
Desktop).
