I've got a remote user who needs to be able to remote into
our network. We've got a VPN tunnel working (using a
linksys befvp41 v2 on both ends). But for some reason
they can't use the Remote Desktop Connection to take
control of their computer. The computer at work has a
static IP. The message we get is that the request has
timed out.
We have a working situation like the above with the boss'
home computer and work computer, but that's using the same
ISP. The remote user who can't get in has a cable
connection with a different company. This user has two
computers that we've tried to connect one with XP pro and
the other with 98SE.
We can ping each other's router, but we can't ping
workstations behind the router, unlike the boss' home
computer, which I can ping.
Is there something that may be blocking the remote user
from getting in? The workstation that we need to connect
to is setup to allow incoming connections (I have
connected to it through the working VPN tunnel).
I'm really stumped and the boss is started to get
frustrated as we need that remote worker to be able to get
into our network.
Thank You
