vpn protocols and ports

i have installed and tested a win2k vpn with active directory on my lan.
works great.

when I am on the road and try to connect i am being filtered by one of my
routers at work

using tcpdump from a linux box i see admin prohibbited filters from one of
the routers

anyone know off hand which ports and protocols are used for win2k vpn?

PPTP uses TCP port 1723 and GRE (IP Protocol 47).

But if you use IPSec with L2TP - it's also IP port 50 for
ESP header to follow. However if you use NAT-T IPSec then
what you are lookin for UDP 4500. SO :

L2TP - User Datagram Protocol (UDP) 500, UDP 1701
NAT-T - UDP 4500
ESP - Internet Protocol (IP) protocol 50
