VPN problem

I have to connect my pc at home (client) to my pc at office (server) using VPN.
Home : XP PRO
Office : XP PRO ip 10.30.1.2
Router ip pubblic 88.58.62.35 - ip private 10.30.1.1
On the router I set forward TCP Port 1723 to 10.30.1.2

My problem is: I try to connect and when there is "user and password
verification" I have the error 628 on the client.
On the server I have this error : "ID:20049 (The user connected to port
VPN7-1 has been disconnected because the authentication process did not
complete withing the required amonut of time). "

Could you help me, please ?

You also need to configure the router to pass GRE Protocol 47 traffic. Some routers call that "PPTP
Pass Through" or "VPN Pass Through". Check the router support pages or the manual for help doing
that...

I have the same problem, which persists even after I forwarded GRE trafic to
our VPN server (Win 2003). Any hints? I can see the client authenticating
for several seconds but after that nothing happens (times out...)
