VPN on windows 2000

For the purpose that i need to use the VPN, I need to be
in the same domain. How can i do this?

See the thing is is that most of our machines are
travelling machines and their machines are part of a
workgroup or mshome. I want to join their machines to the
domain. Can i do this straight through a VPn connection?
