VPN for a small LAN

I have 3 computers...2 are networked together with a crossover cable(xp
pro)...the third has no monitor, keyboard or mouse(xp home). I would like to
possible daisy chain the third comp to the network or use a hub/switch. How
can I set up a VPN to access this comp? When I mean access it...basically
take control of it like a remote assistance type deal...any help or
suggestions would be appreciated.

First, forget VPN, that's something else.

If you can switch them so one of your XP Pro machines is the machine you
want to remotely control, you can enable Remote Desktop (Control
Panel>System>Remote) on that machine and use Remote Desktop Connection from
one of the other machines (Start>All
programs>Accessories>Communication>Remote Desktop Connection) to control it.

If the XP Home PC has to be the remote machine you can't use remote desktop
(this is one of the features disabled in Home) you can use VNC or a variant
thereof: http://www.realvnc.com/

VNC is a good choice but microsoft have a software called SMS and is more
simple that VNC.
