Hello all,

I have created a VPN conection with the Windows XP Professional wizard
to connect to another computer running IIS 5.1 to be able to download and
upload files via FTP. I can logon to the server and transfer files but I
have some questions, I hope somebody can help me:

1. I have acces to Internet via a 2Wire router model 1701HG; when I
connect to the VPN, two conections appear active: a) my local conection and
b) the VPN I created; How do I know Windows utilizes the VPN (safe)
conection to transmit files?

2. Once I am sure to be using a "safe" conection, How can I verify this
is really safe?, Is there a method I can use to verify this?

Thanks in advance for your time.

Give it a test.

Browse the iternet while connected to the vpn.Normally this will fail unless
the vpn server is routing you out.

If it succedds open a command prompt and run a tracert to google to see what
path your packets are taking.

That's fine,
Now I know Windows uses the LAN conection, How can I force Windows to
use the conection I want (VPN)?

Thank you.

To force ALL traffic across the dialup (VPN) connection while using a LAN
connection sulultaneously:

Open the VPN connection (not the 'shortcut') and select 'Properties'. Then,
select the 'Networking' tab, highlight 'TCP/IP' and click 'Properties',
select the 'Advanced' button. On the General tab, click the box 'Use Default
Gateway on Remote Network'. Save the VPN connection...

Cheers!

What WhiteZin2000 suggested seems to work, but a few seconds after I
logon to my FTP server the connection is terminated; the error 937 shows
telling that another connection of the same type is running in the machine
when I try to connect again.
Any ideas abaout this?

Thanks.
