VPN and NetBIOS

Hi,
I have setup a VPN network. The only problem with the network is that
neither of the computers can access other other computers shared area.
I have typed into explorer \\192.168.0.52(the clients address) and say
the the network destination does not exit or is unreachable. Neither
from the VPN server does it list the other computer in the workgroup
section. I am using Windows XP Pro as the server and so is ther client.
There are no problems connecting to the network and i says that the
Computers are registerd onto the network. I have checked the client
computer to make sure NetBIOS is on and it is. And i now for the other
connections on the server that NetBIOS is on, but how do i check on the
server if NetBIOS is on for the connection or if anyone believes it
another problem please could you tell me.

If you can't access remote computer using IP, it is no thing to do with NetBIOS. Assuming you can't ping the VPN host by IP, please make sure both sites are using the different IP range. These search results may help,

I will explain the setup. The router i am using supports VPN
passthrough so the router just lets the data through to the client or
server. Both of the network connections are using different IP ranges.
But the VPN networks do connect and the connect is establised and
packets do go over the network. I cannot ping the address because
command prompt justs freezes on me. But since i have posted the first
message i have been able to get access to the shared area using the IP
address from the other computer. But not with the computers name

If you can access the remote computer by IP but not name, it is better to install WINS. If you don't have windows server, you may try to create lmhosts. These search results may help,

This is indicative of a Master Browser problem. The most common cause
of this is just one computer on the subnet with a misconfigured
firewall which then insists on becoming the master browser and then
refusing to talk to any other computers because of the firewall. The
failure of pings to work could point to a firewall as well.
