Hello:
I have been scanning other messages posted in this site about more or
less the same problem, but got no solution. So I'll ask again:
In my taskbar, the icon for volume has dissapeared.
It happened, curiously, after I checked and "cleaned" my pc from
potential damaging adware, spyware (I had it!), viruses....
I have tryed to check the box to put the volume icon again in the
taskbar ,through control panel/..., and I have ticked also the "always
show". But nothing has changed. I have done it more than once,
nothing.
I don't exactly know what it means to reboot the computer, so, if
someone thinks that it could be really useful, explain to me what it
is, please.
Also: it is possible it was moved from its place/removed because I
erased some kind of virus?? I would find it strange, but may be it is
possible...?
And, if that's the case, what could I do now??
I also tryed the Microsoft fix about the sscd and the play n drop, but
it happens that it has nothing to do with my problem with my computer
because I have a newer version; anyway, I also tried to disable this
things (the SSCD and the Play n Drop?) and set them again to the
default....Nothing changed.
I just don't know what else to try.
The truth is that I don't know almost anything about computers and I am
scared to try something even more damaging. So, please, give me simple
steeps to follow :( ....

Hi Beatriz,
Don't know off the top of my brain why you can't get the volume icon back
but, rebooting your computer can fix a lot of odd things so there is no
chance of damage to your computer to reboot it is a normal function you
should do at least every other day if you have DSL Etc..... , so to reboot
assuming you have winxp go to start turn off restart the computer should do
the rest. HTH (Hope This Helps)
