Volume Control Problem

I've just recently installed few new (optional) updates on my laptop
yesterday and havnt noticed until today that my volume control is isnt
working. I have absolutely no sound! When I put the cursor over the volume
icon on my taskbar it says "No drivers are installed for this device." This
might be an easy problem to fix for most but not for me since im an amatuer
with Vista. Any helpful suggestions?

If one of your optional updates was for a sound driver, then I would try
rolling back the driver in Device Manager.

To do this, right-click on Computer and choose Manage. Then click on Device
Manager. Expand the "Sound, video and game controllers" entry. Double-click
your sound device. On the Driver tab of the window that pops up, click on
Roll Back Driver, if it's not grayed out. Reboot if it asks you to.

Since its a new laptop go to the maker's website and download
and install ALL the new drivers, BIOS, and utilities. If the sound
problem is not better then contact the maker. Be sure to REBOOT
after EACH driver update.
