A second ago I just noticed I don't have the volume control on my taskbar.

From time to time when I try to access control panel I get this. ((An error
occurred while Windows was working with the Control Panel file
C:\WINDOWS\system32\netsetup.cpl.))

Well I got it this time too. But it always allows me to access it after a
few attemtps of fighting with the error box.

Then I tried to access Sounds and Audio Devices. I did and tried to check
off where it says 'place volume icon in taskbar' and I got this. ((Windows
cannot display the volume control on the taskbar because the Volume Control
program has not been installed. To install it use add/remove programs in
Control Panel.))

Any clue to what's going on?

Thanks for you time.

Trish, try this for first error.
Start your computer in Safe Mode, then go to
the System32/netsetup.cpl directory and delete the
netsetup.cpl file. Reboot.

For Sound Problem you may have to reinstall your audio drivers. If your
Computer came with a Software CD then it
( audio drivers ) should be on there. Otherwise, go to Start>All
Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Information.
Computer Components>Sound Device. In rt hand pane top line Name should
tell you what it is. Do a Google Search
by typing in whatever it is. For example mine is Vinyl AC'97 Codec Combo
Driver ( WDM )
