i like to play all my music with the 'play shuffled' feature. the only
problem is that the music i've ripped into the media player is at different
volumes, so the transistions from song to song are often at completey
different volume levels. is there any way to set the media player to play all
music at a similar volume level?

Open WMP, click on View, down to Enhancements
Check "Crossfading and auto volume leveling"

Hello try going to the view menu then enhancements and then cross fading and
auto volume leveling. Hopefully that should solve your problem.

What you should be doing is normalize the wav file ripped from the cd before
converting it to mp3. Might mean need different software than what you're
using now.

Normalizing is where the music is scanned for it's loudest passage. Based
upon that the volume is adjusted accordingly. The result is the loudest part
of every song is the same volume.
